Newsletter #3: Play online,everywhere!

Practice alone or in group!

The ERASMUS+ 22PCS0007 SCALENEo project aims to develop and promote an innovative learning tool for clinical reasoning in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. The serious game dedicated to clinical reasoning. The serious game is based on a set of cards representing different clinical hypotheses, allowing physiotherapy students or professionals to structure their reasoning from given clinical cases. Beyond the printed version, you can now play online here: https://scaleneo.eu/play/

SCALENEo in Luxemburg

At Rehazenter, six trainee physiotherapists (UCL, LUNEX and Libramont) analyzed a cervical clinical case using the serious game under the supervision of Joel Da Natividade. One week later, they used the game to analyze the case of a “real” cervical patient. The trainer then interviewed the patient in the presence of the trainees, providing a great opportunity to transition from theory to practice!

At LUNEX, six physiotherapy teachers used the serious game to analyze three clinical cases they
created themselves, under the supervision of Renaud Hage and Joel Da Natividade.

SCALENEo in Quebec

Physiotherapy trainees from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi had the chance to test the
online version of the SCALENEo serious clinical reasoning game during their specialized
internship at the Clinique Universitaire en physiothérapie (CUpht). Two days of activities
involving a total of six final-year trainees were led by Prof. Louis-David Beaulieu with close
support from the SCALENEo team. The trainees refined their clinical reasoning skills on two
original clinical cases and provided feedback to facilitate the game’s use in line with the
specificities of physiotherapy practice in Quebec. The experience was both useful and
entertaining and will now be an integral part of CUpht’s internship activities for future sessions!
